Can't wait for the rest of this book!

I love these ladies, I spend a lot of my weekly commute listening to their 2 new weekly episodes and relistening to all the others. Just the sneak peak had me reading through watery eyes. Look and listen, and do it for Pat and for that grrrrl who finally stopped blaming herself. 💜

I am a big fan of the podcast and now of this book. I believe it to be a true account on living as a woman in this society as well as how we need to take into account what we've been taught vs. What we should do.

This was sooo disappointing for me. I feel like you'll think positively of this book if you already love Georgia and Karen's podcast and their specific brand of humor. This book felt written for their fans and only their fans. While listening, I couldn't help but feel like I was constantly on the outskirts of very specific inside jokes between the two narrators. And I'm sorry, but the jokes weren't even funny.

Not to mention, it felt like everything they mentioned about their lives was already talked about on the podcast or could have been easily looked up via a Google search. And this book did my least favorite thing a memoir does: turn the part of their past related to drug use and criminal activity into a quirky anecdotes meanwhile teens from minority groups are literally killed or put in jail for the same exact thing. I can't stand it when people of privilege get paid and praised for their mistakes and still think they're being sooo relatable.

This memoir (or whatever you want to call it) is for a very specific demographic. There were moments Georgia and Karen seemed self-aware and then they were just little things that reminded me that they both live in a bubble of their own experiences, and no one elses. And that's okay. Sure, they talked about being called out for language that sounded like victim-blaming and their sensationalism of murder, but they only touched the surface. I don't know, dude. These two just felt out of touch to me.

Rating: 2 stars

I listen to their podcast almost every day & I'm so happy to find others who are obsessed with true crime! This book was a wonderful addition to the podcast, letting us get a glimpse of who Georgia & Karen really are. I absolutely loved reading this!

This is amazing piece of writing. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. It will be a book I reread someday, and refer back to when I need reminding of how to treat others and of how I deserve to be treated. It was nice that they wrote the book to sound the way they normally talk. I found this helped me connect to them and to what they were saying much more than if they had written more "proper."

I will recommend this book to everyone! Even people who have not listened to MFM - and then I'll tell those people to listen to the podcast because why aren't they?!

Even though I unfortunately have not listened to this podcast in probably years, this will forever be my favorite since it was what really got me into podcasts before they were even popular yet. They are so funny and honest and real and you can feel that in their memoir as well. I think that listening to the audiobook with this was really nice as well because it felt like you were just listening to them on their podcast. I enjoyed the parts of the audiobook as well where they were reading it live during some of their shows and you can hear their true honest readings and reactions from fans. This book definitely made me emotional, but also made me laugh and really think about some things in different lights than I had in a while anyways. I definitely recommend even if you don't know them or listen to their podcast.

I absolutely loved this book. I laughed. I cried. Karen & Georgia are both bad ass women with great stories to tell.

If you don't like the podcast, this book is probably not for you.
