I really really loved this book. I loved the set up, I loved the characters, I loved the plot. The pacing was a little off at time, and there were some moments when I could "see the strings" and felt like the author was showing me all their research, rather than telling me a story. BUT this is one AWESOME historical romance that's steamy af, the characters are wonderful and beautiful and amazing, Luz Alana is a badass, and Evan is an Angsty Pretzel (TM) and I just love him to pieces. I am anxiously awaiting the rest of Las Leonas!

A historical romance that is not only sexy and trope-y and fun but looks at the effects of colonialism and how all those rich dukes got to be rich makes for a great read. I love Luz Alana and las Leonas and can’t wait for the next book. I love learning history while reading a historical.
