If you’re going to say you’re into certain things, I kind of expected them to… idk, do them?
This book was blah, but to be fair I was pretty burnt out on the genre before I started.
As always, Zoe is a good writer so the baseline quality is pretty high. However, this was a very predictable storyline with two characters who are nothing more than horny folk who both had one bad thing happen to them 10 years ago. I just didn’t care. They had pretty much nothing to love and Cara’s personality wasn’t super consistent imo.

Morally gray MMC encounters fated mate
The MMC is sent to purchase Cara for his employer so she will be part of his employer’s harem. Of course, the MMC recognizes her as his fated immediately after seeing her. They have some back and forth banter and he spends a long time trying to convince himself to not deliver her.
Cara came from the Pit, the same place the FMC in the first Luxirian book came from. She’s got some understandable trauma but still takes risks in the way she speaks to her new captor.
It was interesting to see a more morally grey Luxirian, even though he seemed to still hold most of the same standards.
