I love reading stories I haven't heard before, and I love it when I'm still thinking about a book days after I've read the last page. Dispirited did both of these things for me. There is tons of symbolism - some of which I'm still pondering. And though it is quite dark, the unmistakable themes that come through are of family and home. Interestingly creepy read.

A great premise that hooked me quickly. A boy learns to take his spirit temporarily out of his body, but then can't get back in when a demon takes possession. After 10 years of following the body around, he finds a girl who can communicate with him, and they battle against the demon. A nice balance of exciting plot and pleasing writing, I stayed up too late reading. She made the demon plenty scary without going unpleasantly dark.

I just love a good book that I can't put down! I found this book because of an article online and I am so glad that I picked it up. It was creative, engrossing, and well written. The plot was unique, which is something I have been looking for lately, and completely clean. I loved the way the story unfolded and kept me on the edge of my seat. It starts as the story of a little boy who finds a way to separate his spirit from his body so he can go looking for his dead mother. While he was gone one night, another being stole his body and takes over his life while he is forced to watch. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good, creative story.

I really enjoyed this book. A bit darker than I expected, and I felt the 'mythology' behind everything could have been explained a bit better, but overall highly recommended!
