What an ending! I like how the dragons have their own voices and aren’t just animals the humans use. I was onboard with Violet’s character for most of the book, but the parts where I wasn’t was when her resolve just didn’t fit her character.

I had seen a lot of mixed reviews on this book, so I was sceptical to read it😂. However I really loved the plot, especially the dragons, and although there were a few plot holes and the writing itself was very on the nose and arguably basic in a way, I still really enjoyed it and actually cried at the end.

This book was intense. I really loved that the characters were diverse. Read all the content warnings! I read this one and Iron Fist in 5 days total -- I was hooked!

Rebecca Yarros really sat down and wrote a book which includes every possible trope ever. Manic pixie dream girl, not like the other girls, i’m no longer attracted to my best friend but i am attracted to the guy who wants to kill me. You’ll find all these and more. Also the ending is just the hunger games: catching fire.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I think the criticisms are valid but because I’m not a huge dystopian reader, I’m able to just enjoy the storyline. There was some romance but it’s not the main plotline. But I loved every minute of the story and it was very exciting!
