Favorite Male Character: Liam Mairi
This book was stunning in many ways. Engaging, complex characters with detailed personalities and motivations, and a nice amount of diverse stories. The writing was very well done and kept me invested in the story, and I found myself feeling intense emotions along with the characters.
The only reason I didn’t rate the book higher was due to the intense sexual content. Anyone is free to read that if they want to, it’s just not for me. Should I have looked into that before I read? Probably. So that’s no one’s fault but my own.
Overall, a great read, and I can’t wait to read the next one!

Alleen is het zo'n zonde dat de vertaling zo slecht is. Typ- en spellingsfouten, een dt-fout, ook vreemde zinsconstructies tot zelfs een foute inhoudelijke vertaling.
Conclusie: lees dit boek, je zal het je niet beklagen! Maar lees het in het Engels als je die taal genoeg machtig bent.

This is a huge mashup of a bunch of popular tropes; enemies to lovers, competitive survival/hunger games, magic school, magically branded, kid of the boss/warleader, with teen sensibilities but college age soldiers.
Spicy and silly with DRAGONS! .. and secrets, and libraries. telepathy, spirit bonds and a mildly unbelievable political premise.
This one gets bonus points for ethnic diversity and Disability rep.. the main character has joint hypermobility and chronic pain, and one of her friends is deaf-mute and uses sign language. This is a great illustration of people using various accommodations to allow people with different needs to meet their potential. The sexual content focuses on mindful and explicit consent.
The last part of the book annoyed me because BLAH battles.. I'm not really interested in battles.
