I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to reading the sequel. As someone with EDS I was very excited to read a book with a protagonist who has EDS written by an author who has it as well. I thought the story was entertaining and I enjoyed immersing myself into the world. That being said, I agree with others who have said that at times it feels very YA, it’s full of predictable tropes, and that there are some plot holes. Was it a literary masterpiece? No. However, I would still recommend this book to people who are looking for a fantasy novel with some smut sprinkled in, and don’t mind and/or enjoy YA as well.

I loved the storyline and characters. I'm incredibly invested to see where the story goes and to see how the characters' relationships evolve throughout the series. However, the scenes describing how hot Xaden is (i.e. "HOLY FUCKING HOT") and the nickname moaning was really... weird...especially for adults. It struck me as trying too hard to be "relatable", and at times I wondered if the romantic scenes were written by someone who only knows about sex from fanfiction because of how the characters interacted (the conversations made me cringe) and how "perfect" each scene was.

To be fair, the book had me at dragons - and I'm happy to say there is a good amount of dragons in this book.

The story follows Violet, daughter of the infamous General Sorrengail, who is forced by her mother to become a dragon rider (and not as she intended a scribe like her father). Forced to go through the cruel and deadly school for dragon riders, Violet's life gets a lot more difficult. But her quick wit and empathy help her make some good friends who'll stand by her side (and she may even make friends she had not expected).

I liked the fact that Violet was not the typical heroin who was caught between two men - she was quite capable of deciding that one of them would suffocate her (despite how much he might like her). Although she could be somewhat annoying in how often she repeated how hot a certain someone was. There was also one scene towards the end where I was expecting a catastrophe, but Violet surprised me again by remaining level-headed (as much as was possible in this situation).

The end throws a curve ball at you and there are SO MANY questions left unanswered. But most of all I would like to know what happened to the rest of Fourth Wing!

First of all, DRAGONS.
I can't say I always loved the writing style but the STORY was amazing! So good, would definitely read again!

I highly enjoyed Fourth Wing. It's right up my alley with dragons, enemies-to-lovers, and character growth. The ending left me on the edge of my seat and running to start Iron Flame
