I read this book a million years ago, after borrowing it from one of my non-reader friends who said she loved it. Now I can see why.
I really liked Wren, I thought she was epic and badass and just awesome. I had a hard time liking Patch. I’m not sure why it was just difficult for me to connect with him. I did eventually come round and start enjoying his character more.
I don’t really read middle grade fantasy, I don’t even know why. I think it’s that YA tends to have more world building (which I love) and the worlds are always more complex since they are targeted towards older readers. (I’m not hating on middle grade books there are so many amazing middle grade books that easily have better worlds than some YA books) but I really found myself enjoying this world. I liked the pipe. I absolutely love when music ties in with magic because music is magical and something to be cherished.

Middle Grade Fantasy is my comfort zone and dragons are one of my favorite creatures, so when @peachtreepublishing asked me if I wanted to partner with them to share S.A. Patrick's A Darkening of Dragons with ya'll I jumped at the chance! I am so glad I did. From the first sentence I was hooked! A Darkening of Dragons is a humorous, riveting, and compelling story of magic, friendship, and adventure! I wholeheartedly recommend this book to lovers of Fantasy of all ages!

Formulaic fun, with a warm heart but no surprises.

I did enjoy this while reading. However, I did miss some connection to the story and it’s characters. There was a lot going on and at times it all felt a bit chaotic. But, it’s a very fast en fun read!
