skimmed the last half to see if there was going to be a plot. there was not. too much lore about characters i didn’t connect with and couldn’t tell apart, and a lot of it centering around normalizing men cheating

A miraculous story of life and death, grief, and hope, and all of the things that make the experience of living uniquely human.

Acevedo's command of words results in poetry on every page. I was skeptical on whether I would enjoy this book for the first 30 or so pages, but after that I was hooked. A beautiful tale of a multigenerational family of women. It begs you to reflect on your own lineage and celebrate the magic within it. A glorious book from start to finish.

Overall, I enjoyed this book (wasn't expecting the humor!), but I struggled to keep track of who was who. There was quite a bit of Spanish thrown in but without enough context for me to interpret, which was frustrating.

I appreciated the help in the beginning, because there were so many people in this book. I got lost often with the changing of the POVs and some of it was hard to follow. That might just be a me issue too idk. The story was amazing and the ending had me emotional
Spoiler(even if you can kinda guess the ending)
I loved this book, but like, idk I could've loved it more for sure haha.
