3.7 AVERAGE

i could go on and on about why i'm giving this book one star, but i will chalk it down to the points listed below:

1. why eggs
2. i never once rooted for grimshaw from nightshade (why are he and oro centuries old going for 18-19 year old isla?)
3. the female rulers had such high stakes for their curses and then it fell so flat for most of the male rulers (am i supposed to feel bad for azul's people not being able to fly when cleo's people are DROWNING??)
4. wildling, starling, skyling, sunling, moonling, NIGHTSHADE. WHY NOT NIGHTLING
5. if you think about the plot and world-building for more than 5 seconds, nothing actually makes sense. the wildlings can only sustain themselves on human hearts... where are these hearts coming from ?? there is no way there are that many prisoners and thieves for each wildling to get food on their plate every single day
6. the lgbt representation being the throwaway characters
7. i've heard of mary sues but isla's got wildling, nightshade, AND starling powers now?
8. starstick

i was willing to give it two stars. i really was. but an EGG ???

4⭐️.

This book was so intriguing to me I didn’t expect to love it the way I did. The plot twist was crazy jaw dropped.I liked the characters they were interesting and the way the book too I didn’t expect it. I will be definitely continuing the series I hope we find more out in the next book or more backstory on it.

4.5 stars. WOW, what the heck, the twist and turns of this book were unexpected. To preface, getting into this book was a challenge, I was confused with the introduction of all the characters, the immersive world building, and basically the details. But once I was able to grasp them, I loved it!! The buildup was needed in order to feel the story. I really enjoyed how we only got Isla's perspective (even though I would love to read Oro's). Isla grew in the 100 days of the Centennial and getting to read about her growth was what made me really feel for the betrayal that happened at the end. The best part of this book was 80% in, I had to sit and take a day because I didn't expect the betrayal, I didn't want to believe it or finish reading it. But alas, I did and wow, one of the characters I loved, I hated, and I did not ever expect that. Anyways, | 100% recommend this book! I can't wait to read the next one.
