I was not sure what to expect when I first started this book. But the further I got into it the more I couldn't put it down. This book has the characters you love, and the ones you love to hate. It has love and darkness all in one. This is a detonate must read and share

Ok. This book could have gone two ways. Either I'd love it (thanks L) or I'd hate it. I didn't think I'd be torn. I read until my eyes drooped shut, I couldn't wait to get back to it, and then I wondered why I was reading something so STRANGE! Weird! OMG.. seriously? So many emotions ran through my mind that I still think about this book, even after having started and finished two, three (?) books. This is DARK, make no mistake about it. But it's going to suck you in and you are going to want to continue. Even as weird as it makes you feel after you finish it.

OH-My-Gosh, I love Jared and Shula. But that asshole father of Jared's amazes me, he gets away with murder. Although this book is written in future tense in the beginning of the book when it is obvious that women are not equal is hilarious. Although a work of fiction these things could potentially happen, Secession from the US and all the other things written about in this book of future events, have the foundation to be real events.

Difficult

This was a bit hard to read- it felt a bit disjointed at times. Almost did not finish but the characters did intrigue me.

This is one awesome story and very different from what I normally read. The story kept my interest and totally surprised me in the end. It was so totally unexpected and it definitely ended with a BANG!!!
The characters are all likable except for James, I really wanted to do bad things to that guy.
The story is set in the future in Texas (year 2250) and it's a very different world than the one we live on right now. It's a time when arranged marriages exist and Shula is only 18 when she is forced to marry, she was going to marry James, a man older than her own dad but luckily ended up marrying Jared, James's son, he is only 20. James made Jared marry Shula as a punishment, but luckily for Shula and Jared they liked each other and the relationship that they formed was one I really enjoyed reading about.
Shula is a bit of a rebel and I really liked that about her, her character was a strong one.
There are a lot of scenes that are very steamy and not for the faint of heart, be warned.
The story ends up with a cliffy but a good one, I actually opened my eyes really big and could not believe it ended like that, but I absolutely loved it and cannot wait to read the next installment in the series.
Recommended if you want something good and different to read with a lot of steam.
