This book is not what u thought it was going to be. From the beginning, I was a little surprised by the subject matter, but having read many of her other books, I trusted her to take me on a journey. It was written differently than many of her other works. It reminded me of the movie Babel - a bunch of disparate stories that eventually are all connected. I don’t normally like this kind of storytelling, because there are often too many strings to track. In this case, it worked well, though there were as many surprises as there were anticipated plot points.

A fast read and interesting complicated mystery. I appreciate the social issues it calls to light on Native Americans rights, mistreatment, land, racism and more. The kids in this story are strong adventurers and I quite like their characters, Marie, intelligent and quirky.

Excellent excellent excellent. There were so many twists and turns, the first one actually made me bring my hand to my mouth. Some were predictable but in a way where it makes a lot of sense and it's not cheesy. The characters are well fleshed out and the mystery had me by the neck. The multiple POV's was a nice way to tie everything together. This was my first Jodi Picoult read and I plan to read more.
