So, apparently, this novel by Twain is little known. Of the many people who saw me reading it, only two had ever heard of it and only one had ever read it. And, the person who recommended it to me hadn't read it until recently. Consequently, while Twain may have felt this was his best work, it's relatively obscure in that respect. However, I think he may have been right. It's definitely not your typical Twain, but it is a quality book that I would categorize in the historical fiction department. Obviously the story is well known and, like Titanic, even though you know what happens, you can still enjoy the story. Unlike Titanic: The Movie, this is actually well-researched, well-written, and, consequently, exponentially better.

That said, if you don't care for the story of Joan of Arc, I don't recommend it. But, this was not Twain's only foray into this genre, and apparently some of his other stuff is just as good. Anyway, from a historical standpoint, I really enjoyed this and it is well done.
