Dead Girls shines a light on the effect of divided class system which results in the way society treats working class women--including girls and children--as a disposable tool, and are often placed in a situation that leaves them vulnerable. It shows how the system fails to protect them and how it lets the abusers/perpetrators/murderers remain free and innocent. Almada's own voice and experience gives readers greater understanding of the femicide itself. Her words are reminder that it's not just a case that happens somewhere far away outside our country, but it can happen anywhere in the world.
Although this book raises a conversation about gender-based violence and femicide, there's something that irks me; the choice of words that doesn't sit well with me, like using a racial slur and casual ableism.
Eventually, Dead Girls serves as a voice for countless voiceless women who are still fighting or have lost their life to gender-based violence. It is a crucial and timely read.

(…) Nunca nos dijeron que podía violarte tu marido, tu papá, tu hermano, tu primo, tu vecino, tu abuelo, tu maestro”.
