My favorite book! I love this book, there's so much depth and time seems to transcend the storyline.

The author states she stayed with some Mormon friends before writing the book, she should have had the same friends read the final version and help edit the book. She had quite a few facts wrong and even the way the people spoke about their religion was not like anything I've ever heard.

On the other hand, it was quite a message on forgiveness. I did feel hopeful and uplifted at the end.

This was a dark read but still enjoyable. I liked that the story did not go as I originally assumed and had a bit more to it than expected. You felt her grief and love, her time of understanding and not. I like that as a character, she did not agree with everyone else and got to her conclusion in her own way

This novel had great flow and definitely kept me spell bound throughout. The first half is the best part, the main characters feelings are just so real and explained so well it really breaks your heart. The resolution I feel is a little weak and I think the novel could have spent a bit more time on that, the wrap up felt rushed to me. Overall fantastic read about a terrible tragedy.

This was a book that I was waiting for. And towards the middle, I had to abandon it. Despite the rave reviews that I read, I was really disappointed. I found the main character a little smug and naive at the same time. Kind of unbareable.

I keep the books I've read recently in a stack next to my bed. I finished this one last month and it is the only book in the stack that I remember absolutely nothing about.

Ok, I read the back and refreshed my memory. I think I picked it up in the first place because I like crime fiction and I thought it was interesting that the main character was Mormon. I'm not but I am religious and I think fiction's treatment of religion is an interesting subject.

It's not a bad concept for a book, but it's just not very well done or particularly well-written. Pass.

I think I will enjoy this book, but sometime in the future.
