4.5 stars! Taking this very contemporary romance more into the paranormal view, the love between a part-demon and a demigod. In an attempt to keep Hades at bay after Kara’s breech of “contract” they go full on Kardashian style publicity train, with the aid of her mother. They don’t like it, but they do it as they try to figure out a way out of this mess. Maximus is grappling with his newly discovered patronage, being the son of Zeus is a big revelation. But that’s not the only secret revealed, and as the book progresses, the games and politics of the Gods become more and more problematic for Kara and Maximus, who only want to be together. They’re chemistry is scorching, and they’re love is next level. The ending pulls the rug out from everyone, and suddenly, all bets are off. Book 3 is definitely going to be a wild ride.

Maximus shows the reader right out of the gate that this book is not a standalone. His and Kara’s story started in Blood of Zeus so if you have not read that book yet please do that first. I think you will be lost if you try and start the series here. You can tell what Maximus feels for Kara and how frustrated she is due to their current situation. The heat that started in the first book continues to build here.

Their story continues with a storyline that has a fine line between our reality and that of mythology and fantasy. When in school I loved the mythology stories and couldn’t get enough. Now I see how some of those characters might act and behave if they lived in my world. Our authors show me that I need to go back and read their original story and then come back and read this series again.

In this current book, I’m on the fence on how I feel about Kara’s mother. I just got the feeling that she wants to run the show and we’ll have to wait and see how she was going to pull the strings next. There’s a lot of crazy going on and I’m glad that I had the chance to watch it all unfold. It also made it difficult to put down.

These authors work so seamlessly together. Unless you’ve gone and picked apart their writing styles, I don’t think you’ll be able to tell who wrote what. And I’m certainly not going to take the time and do that. The only thing I know is that they wrote something that I thoroughly enjoyed as well as renewed my love of mythology. One thing that got me frustrated was these ladies left me with a mystery. It’s a mystery that has me looking forward to when Fate of Storms comes out. I’m left with the same feeling I had when the first book ended – I have months to wait.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
