In 2017 I spent three months in Tuscany, studying. I rode a bike through Lucca and explored Florence. My favourite part of this was going back, knowing the places and reminiscing.
I will say this was not always in the novel's favour - When I cycled in Lucca, below the wall, the cobblestones of the streets made it a touch uncomfortable - especially as I wasn't in an adequately supportive bra.
I enjoyed the world of this novel but I didn't love it, never felt fully immersed. This is likely not a fault of the story as during the period I was reading it I tested positive for Covid.
I had small quibbles with a couple of decisions in the novel.

I didn't fall in love in Italy but I did fall in love with Italy. The location is such a fantastic aspect of this story.
