The case really picked up in this one. I loved reading about Malcolm talking to that kid, he’s just so good with kids.

Also I really like Adelaide’s character. She’s both autistic and has a physical disability. These are really important reps that I love to see in books.

the best part was kinky mal and seong jea. They gave me so much life. That scene was extra spicy

Reread #1

This epiosde, as small as it is, is still so powerful for me for all the little things it has.
........................

So many secrets, so many revelations.

So much hurt and so much hope.

So much love and so much care.

Mal and SJ are just epic. Truly an epic couple, who would each do anything for the other. It's True that Mal is more giving, but SJ is trying and he shows his love in smaller quantities because he doesnt really know how. But he's trying and i love that.

As my buddy reader @Nik Nak pointed out: SJ is basically a cat, Mal is his hooman and SJ would sometimes be like... You may pet me now hooman. It's adorable. ❤

Also... that sex scene... dude. It was HAWT, emotional, and so poignant with regards to SJ's needs and Mal's unconditional love for him.

4.25 stars!

Ugh, I love this series, I really do. I love Malcolm and Seong-Jae so much, who manage to show just how much they love each other in every book.

I rounded this down to 4 stars instead of giving this my usual 5 just because of that feeling of not getting enough of Malcolm and Seong-Jae. While they're still the main characters...it also feels less like they are, you know? And that's fine and I do enjoy the other characters, mostly, but it's becoming more and more an ensemble series and I just wish this is more of them in it. Not to say they didn't get any focus, and the scenes they did have were amazing as usual, but I just...want the POV chapters kept down to just like these two, Anjulie & Gabrielle and Sade (and maybe Min Zhe sometimes).

The POV chapters from Aanga, Adeline, plus Sila and TGRK are just a little too much. Maybe if Aanga and Adeline POV chapters had been introduced when we know them a little more? Because right now I don't really care about about them, sorry to say. I like Adeline well enough, but I don't love her (yet? We'll see) and I still don't feel much for Aanga although he kinda backed off in this...a little bit.

But other than not as much Malcolm and Seong-Jae as I like and a little too much focus on some characters that need a little more build up, in my opinion, I loved this and TGRK is creepy and disgusting and hard to stomach and it's keeping my on my toes as I read and I just can't wait for more.

Can't wait until December 10th! :D

Another solid book in this series! I really like the way Cole is weaving together the overall plot and dropping breadcrumbs along the way. Just enough to keep the pace moving without feeling too bogged down in the details. Wasn't expecting to feel so much for the victim's kid in this one but all the scenes with him tugged at my heartstrings. Loooved the scene between SJ & Mal's dad so much...give me an understanding family member + love interest scene and I'll eat it up everytime. Also, I knew there was gonna be a development in Mal & SJ's sexual dynamic but the way it happened surprised me! It was hot and intimate and well written, which is Cole's usual MO, so I was here for it. And I appreciated his afterword for giving me insight into his thought process when writing it.

I will say, there seemed to be a much larger focus on side characters here than in other books in this series. And while I didn't hate it (and actually liked the scenes w/ Adelaide), they're just not as near to my heart as Mal & SJ. I don't skip anything and it all adds to the story but...idk I'm not as attached. Sila can choke, I'm tired of the shenanigans. And why did Aanga need a POV here, idc about that man
