I've read another edition of this, but I do love Lupin and these stories. And I love how Nelly frames the whole book.

So this is the one with all of short stories. I really enjoy the characters, though it certainly is old fashioned. But it is brilliant.

So this is the one with all of short stories. I really enjoy the characters, though it certainly is old fashioned. But it is brilliant.
I wanted to read the book(s) after watching the Lupin series on Netflix. Because I was so intrigued by the Netflix series, the book was a little harder to read…just because I have all of the characters in mind from the series. While I almost always like the book better than the movie, in this case, I like the Netflix series better than the book. However, after reading the first 9 “novellas,” in Gentleman Burglar, (The Arrest of Arsene Lupin, Arsene Lupin in Prison, The Escape of Arsene Lupin, The Mysterious Travler, The Queen’s Necklace, The Seven of Hearts, Madame Imbert’s Safe, The Black Pearl, and Sherlock Holmes Arrives Too Late), I find the books somewhat enjoyable and fun to read and just might read more.

Listened to the audiobook in French! There were some crazy accents in there, but it was fun.
Arsène Lupin carries most of the short stories by being chaotic and iconic. I especially like the ones in which he gets outsmarted and then gets really mad about it. I also appreciated getting to know a little more about his backstory.
The other characters are kind of bland in comparison to him, but it's what I expected, so it didn't bother me.
