J'ai vu Lupin sur Netflix, donc j'ai lu cette compilation de petites nouvelles qui relatent les exploits d'Arsène Lupin, le "gentleman-cambrioleur". Le livre est agréable à lire, mais plutôt moins divertissant que l'émission. La psychologie des personnages est souvent importante pour le déroulement de l'histoire, mais tout aussi souvent, cette psychologie n'est pas très convaincante.

I had heard Arsene Lupin mentioned in the same context as Sherlock Holmes so, as an ardent Sherlock Holmes fan, I went into this with very high expectations. I should have known I’d be disappointed.
The Lupin stories show none of the discipline of Conan Doyle’s plotting. With Holmes, there’s always suspension of disbelief - you know these situations would never happen but you go along with it because the stories are so good. With Lupin there’s no reality within the stories themselves - Lupin ostensibly explains how he was so successful in his thievery, but it’s beyond unlikely. I could never believe it within the confines of the story.
Had I never read Sherlock Holmes I might have appreciated Arsene Lupin more but as it is, I found him an unlikable character and his exploits to be absurd.

Es hat einfach so viel Spaß gemacht, diese Geschichten zu lesen! Vor allem bin ich stolz darauf, dass ich das Buch auf Französisch gelesen habe und ziemlich viel verstanden habe - wenn auch nicht jedes kleinste Detail oder Wort, aber doch immer so viel, dass ich den Plot verstehen konnte und auch manches Mal schmunzeln oder lachen musste, wenn Lupin mal wieder eine besonders geniale Finte einfiel. Macht auf jeden Fall Lust auf mehr! Mehr auf Französisch zu lesen, da ich wohl doch besser werde, und mehr von Lupins Abenteuern zu entdecken:)
