Hot Asset really set the tone for the potential this series can have when it comes to office place romance. I thought the twist of Lara investigating Ian really created this fun switch in the power dynamics of Ian’s life and put all of his current life choices into a new perspective for him. Hearing about Lara’s dreams of going into the white collar division was so much fun and honestly had me wanting to rewatch White Collar. Though the situation of how their feelings for each other started was not the smartest due to the situation they were in, I think it was honestly a really healthy development of a relationship where they learned to trust each other and communicate well. Even with a lot of the drama that took place in the last part of the book, it definitely felt purposeful and something that added to the overall story rather than just being there to cause tension between the couple. Similarly with the last few chapters, it really helped to strengthen the relationship and not make it feel rushed. Overall, I loved the banter between Ian and Lara and also quickly came to enjoy all members of his friends group. I’m really looking forward to see how the next relationships play out.

Honestly I had low expectations I figured it would be your typical romance with cheesy lines and cringe spice. I was thoroughly surprised. There were a few moments where I rolled my eyes or snickered at some of the lines or plot points. Overall, it was a good book! The plot actually held up and was interesting in and of itself outside of the focus on the couple.
I would call it Wall Street enemies to lovers. The dynamic of the friendships are nice and I felt like the pacing of the story was pretty good.

I received an e-ARC copy of Hot Asset from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
I kinda adored this book. Its about a hotshot guy and a by the book girl. Ian and Lara seem like complete opposites in the beginning. And while they are, its not as far apart as it seems.. They're both hard-working, passionate about their respective careers, and are the kind of people who won't stop until they get what they want.
The banter between Ian and Lara is comical and the best part of the book. The attraction undeniably hot and I appreciated how they didn't just jump into bed. You shouldn't start an affair with the person you're investigating. It's a conflict of interest, and I'm pretty sure that it violates a few policies, just sayin,. I did love how both had individual goals and they didn't loose sight of them because, hey look love. Which was super super awesome.I also loved the try the long distant thing because it can work.
I found this story to be sweet with a HEA, that will leave you with a smile.

I cannot connect to these people. I don't care what they do, they seem flat on page, they have had almost no on page interaction that felt substantial, and the number of scheduling discussions happening really drags it down.
