I never thought I’d like surrealism, but this book changed my mind. Such a good read, even for the most tentative readers of surrealism.

Whimsical and melancholy. The melding of lighthearted fantastical and the romantic and tragic make for a gripping and immersive set of stories. The title story was the stand out piece for me and I was captivated by its sadness long after putting it down. This small taste has me wanting more of Calvino
