THE FINAL (?) SHOWDOWN: Nao versus Tsubaki!!! Tsubaki was actually able to calm down his messy mother, the proprietress, out of doing anything shady, and it worked!!
That being said, do I think Nao will actually get Kogetsuan, now that the proprietress inadvertently chose her wagashi? Probably not, but we’ll see!
I’m also really glad we got a night with Nao and Tsubaki with just their relationship, as well as the conversation about their childhood.

What I liked about vol. 11 was that more and more was coming out into the open- from Shiori admitting she wasn't marrying Tsubaki and that she wasn't pregnant, Nao telling old man Takatsuki she is the legal heir, Takigawa admitting his feelings for Nao, what really happened to Tsubaki during the fire, etc. Sure it's intriguing for some mystery and misunderstandings, but I like also that we can move forward with some clarity.
And speaking of moving ahead...Jojima has a good point when he asked Nao what she plans to do if she doesn't become the owner of Kogetsuan. So much of this series is about fighting for very specific ideas that characters don't engage in what-ifs. The idea is that if I fight hard enough, it's got to happen. But what if it doesn't? Besides, the Proprietress will always be there to fuck things up for you.

WOW! What an ending! This was an incredibly beautiful, very moving volume that ended with a bang. Take THAT, Proprietress!

This story just keeps getting messier. I knew Tsubaki wouldn't believe Nao had anything to The Old Master. Kyoko (Tsubaki's mother) is nuts. She totally is the one who caused both her husband's and father-in-law's death's. I hope she gets what she deserves soon.
Back to the spicy stuff. It's a toxic relationship, but I like Tsubaki and Nao together. The balance each other in a way.
