This was a really fun spin off from the Reckoners. I like this new cast of characters, I like the scientific aspect, I like the mystery ending. I think it was really cool. The pacing was a little weird for me, and I don't think I loved the multi-POV, but I had a great time.

Officially a 4.5 rating. I thought this was fun and I loved the behind the scenes story while the Steelheart books happened at the same time.

I didn't love the original Reckoners series.  But I really enjoyed Lux - I think it's my favorite book in the Reckoners universe.

This book was awful. It basically was a poorly written fan fiction full of plot holes, plot armor, inconsistencies, and inaccuracies. I’d hope that Brandon Sanderson is ashamed to even have his name on this book. I gave it the extra star above 1 only because it was still somewhat fun to read more in the Reckoners world, and the story could have been good if it was written by Brandon himself instead of the other guy.

I could never get into the reckoners series, but this was amazing! Fantastic characters, great narration, and a story that made me eager to see more in this series.

Like the rest of Reckoners novels, Brandon Sanderson does an amazing job with this story. The characters are engaging, the plot is fun, and the themes are engaging. The plot hooks that are left behind for the next story with the Texas Reckoners are engaging, and make me want to read more. The only complaint I have with this is that the opening is a little slow. It begins on an Epic (no pun intended) scale, and then spends many, many chapters devoted to showing the backstory of the main character. Unfortunately, while interesting, the first part feels extremely slow. In contrast, the other two parts of the story feel relatively quick-paced, and while it took me days to complete the first part, it took a total of one day to complete the other two parts.
The connections to other Reckoners novels are engaging, whether it be references to other Epics, the main Reckoner team and their exploits, and the looming presence of Calamity on the world. Overall, a very fun book. Slow to start, but once it gets going, becomes extremely engaging.
