"I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
The story and character development was good and continued well from the first book. This one seemed to wrap up most loose ends, but it also felt like it was purposefully stretched and leaving room for a third book.

I read the first book in this series (duology?) last month. It's called Dear Mrs. Bird. I really enjoyed that book for the historical fiction aspect during World War II and getting to follow along with Emmy, her friends, surviving in London during wartime as well as Emmy starting a new job with a Women's magazine which made for a few funny moments throughout.

Yours Cheerfully continues where Dear Mrs. Bird ends with Emmy continuing in her career at Women's Friend. At this point in history since many of the men are gone off to war, the women left at home are taking up factory jobs to help with the war effort and just to provide for their families. The Ministry of Information calls a conference of representatives from all publications during that time because they want to help increase the number of women serving and working while the men are off at war.

Emmy takes up the cause of a friend, Anne, working in a munitions factory and having no one to watch her children as she works. Anne is not the only woman who has issues with child care so Emmy tries to bring a light to this so that help can be given to those in need.

While the topic of this book was very informative and necessary to understand what was going on in that time in history, I didn't like this book quite as much as the first. I think it is still a great book to read especially if you enjoy World War II history. I have enjoyed Emmy and her friend Bunty and their relationship as best friends throughout both books and find it refreshing to read about great friendships that can survive hard times and tragedy.

Thank you to Scribner books for this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
