I'm loving Sydney's character arc and can't wait to see where it goes. This series is making me feel like a teen again reading books non-stop. I fell out of love with reading but this and Vampire Academy have gotten me firmly back.

Wow Richelle Mead sure knows how to write a book! I loved this newest book in the Bloodlines series, and I seriously can't wait for the next. I know it will be awhile, but still can't wait. This book was a wild ride, and wonderfully done to keep my interest without frustrating me. A must read!!!

Second books are always hard. You want to get to the best parts, but you have to do all this extra development in the middle...anyway, I thought this was well done. I'm not by any means IN LOVE with these books - I didn't put it down with wide eyes, breathing hard, holding back tears, thinking my life had just changed. I don't regret spending my day reading it, however.

Sydney impresses me. She is ridiculously naive and socially awkward, but it's endearing, and even though she's REALLY awkward, it doesn't feel forced or fake. I have actually known people like her, so I know they exist.
SpoilerI LOVED her early interactions with Adrian - and it makes sense that she wouldn't have picked up on his "I'm falling for you" vibe. I was a big fan of the way she put Adrian's dad in his place.
I could go on and on, but really what I mean is that Sydney is a real girl.

The story line in this book wasn't as fascinating to me as the story line in the first book.
Spoiler I saw the whole vampire hunter thing a mile away, especially when it comes to Trey - I remembered his tattoo from book one, and it just clicked. Plus, he was acting sketchy so often...well, I knew something was up.

I think the story was wrapped up well, too.
SpoilerSydney might have "feelings" for Adrian, but to be fair, she is still an Alchemist. I'm not sure when I'll read the last book, simply because I don't feel like dealing with the aftermath of that kiss - she's going to be really self-depricating.
Oh, and side note, THANK YOU Adrian for FINALLY calling Sydney out on her self-image issues.

I realize most of this review is spoilers, so let me do something really vague here.
This was a good second book, developing all the characters (though I have to say that Jill is starting to really irritate me) and deepening relationships between characters - the most important things in a second book. And, well, on to the next.

Oh Sydney, just google it. "Boy acting weird around me and says nice things." Socially inept is such an understatement. Brayden is a boring sack of potatoes compared to Adrian. Of course her alleigence is key to not being sent to an Alchemist brainwash camp. Maybe if she mentioned the punishment for cavorting with vampires, the rest of the group would back off? I wonder where the next book will take us. Hoping to get more of this mysterious ex-Alch guy Finch. Opens up all sorts of possibilities for Sydney.

Again, still a little more predictable than the Vampire Academy series, but still well written. I feel like both Sydney and Adrian's characters have so much depth to them, and even the side characters are rich with detail.
Richelle Mead's books helped bring joy back to my heart, reminded me of how much I love reading a good book, which these are. The cliffhanger at the end...all I can say is I really hope Sydney decides to choose her own life trajectory, for a change.

...I may also be obsessed with Adrian, oops.
