Wow... What an interesting world, I especially liked the parts of Dublin that disappeared creepy.....
Jericho and Max were starting to have a little heat... Definitely want to read more

This series went on and on. I eventually just skimmed the last two books searching for my HEA fix. I really did like the main characters though. I just felt like it could have all been said in 3 books instead of 5. Maybe I have a short attention span? Nope. Just didn't care after a while.

At least it's a quick read.
Disappointing if you like fantasy, suspense, well-written dialogue and/or original plot and characters.
Writing style was not my thing either. The scenes tended to be confusing or seemed cut short. A bunch of: "I'll spare you the details of.." which were giving off "i can't be bothered". The jumps inbetween scenes can make you dizzy and descriptions tend to lack detail.
Felt like there were quite a few problematic passages in there, too.

Passages that can read as sexist, racist, exhibitionism, emotional manipulation, etc.
I wanted to like this book, but the annoying voice of the MC's narration and preachy asides about millennials kept it from being good. If the book weren't so obviously making it known that it's a product of the mid-aughts, I would have really gotten into the story. It has world-building, hot guys, sisters, Dublin, and more that I'm a sucker for. I wish some plot twists weren't so predictable, but I kind of started reading it just for the fun factor.
Here are some examples about the problems in the narration:
The MC comments on her appearance, wardrobe, and nail color obsessively. We're always reminded that she's pretty, in a Mary Sue way, with Cinderella good looks and piercing green eyes. E.g.: “I love to eat. Fortunately, it doesn’t show. I’m healthy through the bust and bottom, but slim through the waist and thighs.”
She's judgmental? “Now I understood the slightly exotic slant to the dark eyes, the deep gold skin, the bad attitude. I didn’t think there could be a more primitive pairing of genes.”
That's such a weird and kind of racist way to talk about ethnicities and identity. It made me cringe while reading it. Get out of here with that social Darwinian language.
She has a serious case of "not like other girls" syndrome. She points out that she's not like other girls because she likes cars and reads, while also emphasizing how much she enjoys traditional femininity, like nail polish and imagining her future as a stay-at-home wife in her small town. Are you like other girls or not? I'm hoping this dies down in the next books.
This mentality bleeds into the preachy judgement about millennials: “Born in a generation that thinks cynical and disenchanted is cool, sometimes I’m a little off the beaten track. Oh well.”
“Raised by computer games, satellite TV, the Internet, and the latest greatest electronic device—while their parents are off slaving away to afford them all—most of the EG believe if there’s something wrong with them, it’s not their fault; their parents screwed them up, probably by being away too much.”
Here, EG stands for entitlement generation. If I had to guess, these thoughts seem more from the mouth of the non-Millennial writer than the 22-year-old narrator.
It's an easy, light read if you can get past the cringeworthy moments.

This was a reread for me, I read it back in 2007 and really enjoyed it. I forgot a lot of details from my past read. I will continue with the series again.
