A first book in a fantasy series is something hard to do well and this one falls short of the mark. I’ll give the second book a shot just to see.

Darkfever has been on my list for the hottest of minutes and finally, FINALLY, I can cross it off as read.

I think this is definitely a "wait for the bigger picture" kinda book because I was just not having a great time but I CAN SEE THAT I'M HEADED THERE!! I am determined to make sure I like this because if I don't, I'll be sad. It was on my list for so long that ending it off with a "meh" is depressing.

Has anyone read this recently? Is it worth continuing?

I was so excited when I finished this series, that I went straight to my blog and did a review (that I will probably have to edit later since I wrote this without fully having absorbed the entire series). My blog is supposed to be a collaborative review, but I couldn't wait on my bestie to read the series before I put it all down on paper...well, virtual paper. I did a review of the entire series, with vague spoilers *that ARE avoidable*. You can see my full review HERE

:)

Slow in some places but hoping it gets more exciting. I've been told the first 5 books are more like 1 so hopefully.

Good book. Looking forward to the next in the series.

I really liked this series. If you like fantasy, you should like this. The series of 5 are all out. They read really fast. Intelligent author with some great twists and turns.

The story line is intriguing and has a different spin on other-world beings, in this case Fairies are not so nice and I am hooked-in enough to want to read the series. However, I often find her writing frustrating. Her sentence structure is strange and the main character is a little too obsessed with pink.
