I have been wanting to read this series for a while and my sister gifted the first book for my birthday last year. The first book was a struggle, but I've been enjoying this series overall. Jess is finally growing on me.

This book has two points of view. The first is Sabrina, she has exposed a prominent criminal family with an investigate news report in Seattle, and now she’s facing the backlash. She should be basking in the glory over the success, but instead she is on the run from the man who wants her dead. To stay safe, she’s forced trade one bad situation for another. Stuck in the Montana wilderness, she’s secluded from anything resembling civilization or the modern-day world. The only good thing about her situation is the gorgeous mountain man assigned to protect her. Too bad he’s not interested in a city girl like her. The other point of view is Beau, he likes his life – he is quiet and simple. Give him a peaceful day hiking in the woods with his dog, and he’s a happy man. He has no use for large crowds, noisy cities or dramatic women. So, when a hotshot reporter rolls into town, dragging her big-time problems with her, he should have run for the hills. Instead, he volunteered to keep her safe. Bringing her into his world won’t be easy, but if he can convince her that Montana isn’t as terrifying as she believes, then they might just be the perfect match.

I love the men in this series, the more this series goes on, I am loving this small town. Beau is just the perfect man and doesn’t explode a lot and wants to talk the issues out and have no miscommunication. I love him and how he was like I'm waiting for you and would wait for Sabrina. I loved how much he wanted to show off Sabrina to the town and he couldn’t and would kill anyone who stepped in his way. I love how Sabrina is so confident and tough around everyone else but then breaks down completely around Beau when she is comfortable around him and that he was her safe space. Sabrina needs therapy and even though she did it, I love that she and Beau got a happy ending.

I didn’t rate it five stars because some of the parts were just described rather than performed, it was like something major happened and it was just brushed over. Sabrina only wanted to see how Prescott was, and we didn’t see her reunite with everyone or meet Gigi or going to the Farmhouse.

I liked the action during this book, and it stressed me out and I cannot wait to read Maisy’s story and I want Michael to have his own story as well.

Okay, Devney, WHAT THE HELL?

This book was shaping up to be my most favorite in the series. Beau had usurped Silas as my favorite (which I thought was absolutely impossible) and I was over the moon. And then, bam. You ruined it.

Two thirty-something-year-olds who clearly love each other both decide to not communicate and split up for SEVEN MONTHS?! Without a word?! Please. No. Just NO! And then. AND THEN! You are really trying to tell me that it took Henry pointing out to her that Beau loved her for her to clue in that it was true? She never had even an INKLING? What a bunch of horse dung. I’m so livid. This is either completely unrealistic or senselessly stupid. Either way. This section of the book can piss all the way off.

I mean, yes, they worked it out. They both agreed to move wherever. Blah blah blah. But what the heck was that huge gap in their relationship for? So unnecessary. If they were so in love—WHICH THEY BOTH WERE—that amount of time would not have gone down that way. I can’t even. If I didn’t love the rest of the dang book—and Beau—so much, this book would definitely be 2-3 stars.

Mafia mixed with small town goodness? This book was amazing and it was not what I was expecting from this book at all. Sabrina has to go into hiding after writing to expose the Russian mafia so she must go to her best friend Felicity in Montana. She is then taken by Beau to a tiny cabin in the middle of the words to keep her safe but it becomes incredibly difficult to deny their chemistry.

Beau was an ultimate MMC, all he wanted to do was always protect Sabrina, something happens and he always comes running! He absolutely melted my heart he was a soft boy he adores his woman, mother and sister which is hard to find in romance books these days. He respects Sabrinas boundaries and strength and never oversteps.

Sabrina was such an amazing FMC to read about, she was strong, independent and has so much personality behind her. I loved her so much I could read more books about her and Beau because they were just so fun. The epilogue was so freaking cute but also I love that this set up the first book of the Clifton Forge series.

Tropes: forced proximity, opposites attract, slow burn angsty
Triggers: violence, gun violence, trauma, depression, attempted rape

The Coppersmith Farmhouse: ⭐⭐
The Clover Chapel:⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
The Lucky Heart:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Outpost: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Bitterroot Inn: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
