Wow did I feel every emotion with this one. If the last book destroyed you to, trust that in the end this one will heal you. I can not count of that mount of times I GASPED and slammed the book shut during those last 100 pages. Lynette sure knows how to make me cry my eyes out and keep me on my toes. Never in a million years would I have expected any of the outcomes given, but boy was I grateful for them.
I may have cursed her and shaken my fists whilst reading – but in the end Lynette Noni is a mastermind and her message of hope told within this story isn't one I think I'll ever forget.
I am now on my knees begging for this series to be read more often 🙏🙏

Rushed ending “big bad level” moment/s but ending was really satisfying.
Characters were put through the ringer.
I didn’t mind where we went and ended up.
From a prison escape book, to a strategise overthrowing the throne book, to finally a quest book this series was really great and I’m almost sad to say goodbye to the characters.
Graphic: Violence and Drug use
Moderate: Toxic relationship
Minor: Gore and Sexual content

Arghhhhhh this review pains me to write as I loved the first two books. In fact The Prison Healer was one of my top books of the year last year. I just found this one a bit "meh". Perhaps it is my own fault because I did leave quite a gap between reading the second book and picking this one up.
For me, it was just so slow - a random quest took up most of the book and it was just travelling, an "incident" of some sort, getting what they need and then moving on to repeat the same process. I know this is the basis of a quest based fantasy, but sadly I was bored. The last 20% where everything "kicked off" was really enjoyable and contained the excitement I missed throughout the first 80% of the book.
I also found the reconciliation between the two leads completely bizarre. After treating Kiva like crap throughout the majority of the book because of what she did, his explanation and "forgiveness" monologue did not match his actions from the previous parts of the books.
Anyway, I know this is a complete unpopular opinion as its so highly rated so it could just be me but I'm gutted that I did not enjoy this that much. I still really liked Lynette Noni's writing and will definitely pick up more from her in the future.
Minor: Gore and Death
