I loathed this book. No, really, I hated everything about it. I hate that authors glom onto other author's work and characters and create prequels from someone else's work and creativity. It should be illegal. Plus, it was about a crazy lady who was crazy and did crazy things and did I mention crazy? No explanation, no motivation, just Crazy McCrazy endlessly. And at the end, hate, again with no explanation. And this is a classic? Maybe I need the Cliff Notes.

I blame my expectations, but I certanly was hoping for something a bit different when I decided to read this book. Quite slow paced and I didn't much likt the writing style. Even so, I appreciate the authors effort to provide a glimpse into this character's origin.

On a side note, I see it's been tagged with "feminism" and I just can't understand why. The poor woman is trapped, her husband doesn't believe her, ignores her, treats her with contemp she does not deserve and when she becomes mad it's all because of him.

TBH couldn't completely finish this one. At a little over half way done, it wasn't speaking to me. Or I just wasn't in the mood for it I guess. I'll try again next winter.

Finally, I finished it, minutes before the exam. It was the worst book I read in the entire semester. The idea was kind of okay, yes the madwoman in the attic needs a backstory but is this really the backstory she deserves? I don't think so. And don't get me even started at the writing style. It was not my style. Anyways, I am glad it is over.
