I was surprised to find myself absolutely fascinated by this book, right to the twist at the very end. Perhaps because I’m generally interested in the Catholic Church and all her mysterious ceremony, or perhaps because Harris knows how to craft a story. Either way, it was worth the read

CONCLAVE’s closed room mystery escapes the grasp of its minimalist setting and intimate interpersonal politics. For a story told on such a small scale, it does well in reminding you of its beyond-earthly purpose.

mis amigues saben que me mostré bastante escéptico al inicio de la novela, pero me alegra anunciar que cónclave superó mis expectativas. si bien la novela toca temas muy interesantes, algo que realmente me sorprendió para bien fue el tiempo que harris dedica a explorar la complejidad emocional de lomeli. mi loco es bisexual, célibe, impotente, tiene problemas alimenticios y arrastra la misma culpa católica que yo sufrí en mi adolescencia. hay párrafos enteros centrados en su crisis existencial, y yo leía con una fascinación y un entendimiento absolutos.

admito que nunca esperé ver mis experiencias reflejadas en un cardenal de casi 80 años, pero agradezco encarecidamente a harris por tomar la decisión de crear un protagonista tan demente. ¡y pensar que la adaptación a la gran pantalla de esta novela crearía uno de los fandoms más falopas de la historia! en fin, muy recomendable. ahora si me disculpan, me voy a leer un fanfic en donde benitez le da a lomeli con su cinturonga.

I enjoyed this film, and the book was better. Surprise (not really)! As a Protestant who came to faith at age 27 - Catholicism has been a bit of a mystery to me. Lot's I don't agree with, but the traditions and history are beautiful and inspiring to me. The flaws of me are on deep display here. But God is steadfast and keeps. Moving. Forward.
