This one definitely fell short compared to the other Vanbrugh plays. Perhaps partly it's because this was incomplete? I really think it could have used another two scenes plus an act. The characters weren't as engaging and witty as his previous plays; I don't think I enjoyed any of their dialogues (apart from maybe Betty). It's a shame that Vanbrugh never finished this; would have liked to see his way to resolve the two (quite separate) storylines.
