Spies and archaeologists? Especially a female archaeologist named Indy? Yes, please! :)

For the Duke's Eyes Only was a really fun read. I really enjoyed the BFFs-as-children-turned-enemies-turned-professional-rivals aspect of the story; the prologue where the two of them made their first major archaeological find was absolutely adorable...at least it was, until it wasn't. Even when they aren't getting along--especially when they aren't getting along?--Indy and Raven have amazing chemistry together. I loved that Indy was one of the first people to (fictionally, of course...) advance the theory that the pharaoh Hatshepsut was really a woman, and the fact that her life's ambition was to find Cleopatra's tomb? The cherry on top!

The mystery of the disappearing Egyptian artifacts was intriguing--I especially liked that the Rosetta Stone was one of them. The resolution of that part of the plot was a bit fantastical, but still entertaining. I mean, spies and archaeologists. Throw in the romance and really, that's all I need.

For the Duke's Eyes Only is the second book in Ms. Bell's School for Dukes series (the first is Indy's brother's story) but would work just fine as a standalone. The next (One Fine Duke) is Mina's--Raven's mentor's niece's--story; who had a very minor role here. It looks to be just as much fun, though!

Rating: 4 stars / B+

Lady India Rochester and Daniel Bonds first appeared in Lenora Bell's What a Difference a Duke Makes, and they completely stole my heart from the get-go. In the first book in the School for Dukes series, they're side characters who are constantly sniping at each other. Here, their tangled past is revealed.

India and Daniel were childhood best friends, but after he broke her heart India vowed to never let anyone close enough to hurt her again. She puts love far from her mind, chases her passion and becomes an archaeologist. Meanwhile, Daniel plays the part of the rake while secreting serving the crown. When an artifact that India is searching for disappears, the two join forces and travel to Paris to find it.

This book was so much fun. I loved the treasure hunt, and the genuine danger that the hero and heroine faced on their journey. I also adored both India and Daniel. This is a romance that combined so many of my favorite tropes: enemies-to-lovers, mutual pining, secret identities, and more. Their chemistry was sizzling, but their bond goes far deeper than that. The mutual respect they have for each other really shines here, and made me love them both all the more.

I'd definitely recommend this to fans of historical romances, and I plan on checking out more of Bell's books soon.

This is my favorite Lenora Bell book, and I knew I'd love it from the blurb. Badass Lady archaeologist? Yes, please. In fact I read the first book in the series specifically to get to this one, and I'm glad I did. There's quite a bit of Lady India in the first book that made this story richer for me.

Despite the awesome hate to love concept of rival archaeologists, more of a friends to lovers without any of the verve of the scenes between them in the first book in the series. Okay, but bland.

Lenora Bell’s books are so cute and sweet. I was looking forward to this one, especially since we have a heroine archaeologist. There’s a lot of cringe-humor and general horniness that I skimmed through, but overall I loved the adventure and the feminism.

Just...ok? I liked the feminist heroine who bucked societal norms and took over her own sexuality, but besides that it was a little dull.

Wow, this is sooooo bad. It flirts with being so bad it’s good but the feminism in name only ruins the otherwise fun florid foolishness.
