Boring. I don't get it.
Lovecraft's style is apparently to spend half of the story describing uninteresting details, such as imaginary family histories, before sending his protagonists into some type of cave or cellar to witness 'indescribable horrors'. He takes forever to get to the scare, and once there, calls it incomprehensible and ends the story.
There is really nothing too unique about Lovecraft; his horror doesn't stray as far from tradition as I thought it would. I've honestly read creepypastas that were more interesting and scary than the majority of Lovecraft's stories. I struggled to pay attention to these stories.
