Im Gegensatz zu den meisten Lustspielen (von Molière) sind es nicht die Diener, welche das Stück mit Witz und Schelm vorantreiben, sondern es konzentriert sich hauptsächlich auf den (heutigen) Macho Sganarell und seine (Nicht-)Verzückte Isabella. Für seine Zeit war Molière sicher sehr modern mit seiner Aussage, man solle den Frauen den Freiraum geben etc, was hoffentlich jeder (Ehe)mann dazumals aus diesem Schulstück als Lehre mit nach Hause trug. Heutzutage zwar noch komisch und lustig, aber wirklich knapp an Handlung und halt einfach nicht mehr so relevant - zum Glück.

Having read [b:The School for Wives / The Learned Ladies|99469|The School for Wives / The Learned Ladies|Molière|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1382942332s/99469.jpg|52026652] I figured it was only fair to read the other. Much is lost in translation with Moliere. But some of the humor still remains. He definitely had it in for older men.
