This was a short, bittersweet, beautiful experimental work. I would recommend it to anyone seeking lyrical prose exploring mythological themes and queerness.

The queer story in this book being interwoven with Hindu mythology is gorgeously lyrical!

I loved listening to this and feeling every word. This book is poetic and easy to consume. It touches on mental health, queerness, performative identity and what it means to be human.

A really lovely short little read.

Listened to the audiobook. Either this prose is poor or I'm too far removed to understand the author's experiences.

I might have to revisit this one. I feels like it didn't translate very well into e-book form and didn't really stay with me as I thought and hoped it would.

CW: death of an infant, body dysmorphia, homophobia, queerphobia, blood and violence

I'm starting to think Shraya could be a favorite writer of mine. I really liked the style and how mythology was weaved with the mundane.

This book is beautiful and deeply touching. I wasn’t sure what all to expect from it going in, but felt that I connected with it in many ways. I could re-read it right now. Maybe I will.

This was an incredibly interesting book.  It switched between a story of a man who is constantly put in a certain box and how he grows to understand himself, his identity, and his body, and a reimagining of a Hindu myth that also takes a critical look at gender.

I really appreciated how the book took on the issue of bi erasure and how the main character found the language he needed to feel like himself.

It’s a very short book, so I won’t say too much, but I did thoroughly enjoy it.
