There is a story line, while it is very minimal and barely there it is there. Otherwise this is pure sexual fun.

I feel like I just stepped out of an enchanted dream that was equal parts fascinating, delicious, and sexy.  This story pulled me in at the very beginning and kept me guessing throughout trying to figure out what or who exactly Malcolm was.  I don't usually read fantasy as it's not a genre that I generally like, but the elements of realism in The Red made it the perfect blend of fantasy and reality.  Not to mention the smoking hot scenes throughout that added an extra layer of role-play and whimsy.  I loved the art history storyline and found myself intrigued by what art piece was going to show up next. The Red wrapped up beautifully and I absolutely loved the ending.

I actually received an ARC of book 2, when I didn’t realize it was a book 2. And although both books are categorized as standalones, why wouldn’t I start at book 1? If I enjoyed the ARC of book 2 and wanted to go back and read book 1 (which I read is the mother of book 2’s character), it would seem wrong and backwards. So my read of this book is a detour from my ARC.

It’s the first I have read by this author but it definitely won’t be the last! I was worried I wouldn’t enjoy this and then would feel obligated to read the ARC given to me, but it wasn’t the case at all. I’ll read book 2 happily and be checking out more from this author.

My favorite things about this book is the poetic writing. I really hope all her books are written like this, because this author has a way with words! This is so beautifully written that it just pulls you into the story so much. The writing matches the story so well. Despite being an erotica, I found this to be classy. With the characters being how they are, and the situation at hand, the flow of the writing gave justice to this story so much.

After her mother dies Mona promises to keep the gallery afloat. A mysterious man appears to her and makes a deal: once a month he will come to her and have carte blanche with her sexually in exchange for priceless paintings that she can sell to keep the gallery afloat.

Marcus is so mysterious the entire way through! I really tried to figure him out, and when I thought I did have it figured out, he disappeared and the ending happened. It was a...weird ending, to say the least, but still oddly good. Odd and weird, but semi fit in with the novel. It was a hard written part of the book though that made me go back and have to give that section a reread twice before I got what was going on. Interesting, to say the least. Even after reading, I’m trying to process and figure out. Yet, it explains so so much and explains some of the things he said or how he said them.

Great book and I can’t wait to move on!
