‼️slight spoilers‼️

reread (03/02/24 - 03/05/24)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
i definitely forgot a lot of the stuff that happened in this book, even though its my literal favorite series of all time. i believe the reason i am giving it lesser rating this time is because i know now how much better the other books are compared to this one. i think one of the biggest reasons i rated this less was the fact that the characters haven’t developed at all yet. which i am aware this is the first book im just saying im sad cuz i know how good the character development in this series is, so i still have to read the bad to get to the good.

also looking at my old review and knowing that warner is the villain rn, why the heck did i think he was hot in this book??? if i were reading this for the first time i would totally think he’s creepy. and how did i know his first name is aaron?? that did not get introduced in this book. dont get me wrong, i still love him and all but hes actually so creepy in this book. like that kiss? yes. it was hot. no one can deny that. but wth. that could literally be called sexual assault.

all in all, i love this book but sometimes you have to read the worst to get to the best.

first read (10/27/23 - 11/02/23)

Shatter me was impossible to put down. I wish I could read Shatter me again for the first time. It was excellent, a real page-turner. Shatter me was fast-paced, engaging and suspenseful. Everything about this book was beautifully complex. Shatter me kept me spell bound, and I was compelled to keep reading. I was forced to feel the characters' emotions!! I'll be thinking about Shatter me for a long time to come. I would recommend this book to anyone. Read it!!!!!! I promise, you’ll be hooked.

2nd Read:

How did I finish this so fast? I don’t know, honestly. I still love this book, and I hated Adam so much through it. I forgot how jerky he was from the start.

Reread bc I need to actually read the physical books I own at some point

- Warner has 0 redeeming qualities
- Adam is a very good boy
- Kenji is my favorite person in the world but probably bc he reminds me of Stiles from Teen Wolf
- I still don’t understand what the eye on the cover has to do with anything

Not sure but everything feels very flat and shallow. Personalities and motives are incohesive and unbelievable. Every character seems to blend into one in this sense.
Not sure why every man is immediately head over heels for Juliette who seemingly has no personality.
Will stay optimistic as this series was so highly recommended so I assume it gets better.

4.25/5 I read a comment about this book being more of a romance than a dystopia, and I have to say I agree with it. From the synopsis of the book I was really interested in the dystopian world and was rather excited to read it, but somehow a large part of it seemed to be focused on the development of the romantic relationship between Juliette and Adam. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the couple and their storyline, but I wish there is more emphasis on the dystopia side of things than the romance.

I also understood the comment about the writing which is definitely a style that is very new to me and requires some getting used to. I don’t necessarily think it is bad, but sometimes affected the flow for me, just my personal opinion.

Despite that, I gave this a 4.25 rating because things got moving in the later part of the book which I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s like finally, this is what I am looking for, and it gets me curious about whatever going to happen in the next book. So overall, I am still very excited and interested in the entire series and I look forward to see how the plot develops!
