This book was pretty good! The problem is, is was a better book than it was a first book.
The ending wasn't too satisfying and left off at a bad place, but the world building was UNREAL so I now REALLY need the next book.

This book was highly engaging; however, the primary intrigue was drug out. I think the primary evil scheme will be maintained throughout several books, which might be irritating. The first love interests story line is a little disappointing. Overall, it does eventually build in a decent way.

I don’t know how to feel honestly. The character development was supposed to be great but I could barely tell the difference in the main character from the start to end. The first half of the book is a little bit being able to be predicted as it follows many normal YA type of stories. I feel as though the main character is very overpowered and so far in the first book there isn’t much logical reasoning to it.
I will say that this book did have me cringing because of the awkward love triangle that felt forced many of times. It reminded me of the twilight days.
I will also say that I did not want to put the book down. The world building was amazing and scene setting very detailed. There was a great theme along the way and I feel as though this would be a great story without the awkward love triangle kind of forced. Overall, I did enjoy the read just cringed through it a lot.

Romina Russell uses the familiar elements of the Zodiac and builds and entire, futuristic world out of it.
In Zodiac, we are placed in a far future world, where humanity lives on twelve planets, each planet a member of the Zodiac ruled by different governments but all have a special reader of the stars in common. Rho, a sixteen year old student, is trusted into the role of Guardian soon after the story opens.
In the beginning I was a little skeptical at this, but overall it works. The way Rho was placed into leadership seemed natural to the story and not forced. Rho was a heroine I could get behind and her behaviour - that of a normal teen - was something that I could understand and appreciate.
Being set in the future the story had to introduce concepts that were common to that world, in a way that the reader could understand. For the most part Romina Russell did an excellent job of painting an alternate reality using familiar settings, but there were a couple times when the familiar was interjected - like reference to amusement parks, or holding fingers to head like a fortune-teller at a fair - in such a way that it pulled me out of the world and left me wondering if, with all the technology, there were still things like fortune-tellers or amusement parks that were similar to the Earth’s.
My one point of contention was the love triangle. Now, I typically despise love triangles and in the beginning I thought that this one would have been one that I could overlook, but the further into the story it got the more strange the love triangle became and I wonder about the seemingly unnecessary drama, perhaps there’s use for it in the other book(s)? However, that’s my personal opinion, since I don’t think love triangles necessarily add to stories, and I really didn’t see the need for one in this one as the story as it stood strong without one.
Overall it was a good read and I think a great addition to the sci-fi YA books out there. I’m definitely looking forward to its continuation.

I really enjoyed this book. It was an amazing read and I would definitely read it a third time(this is my second time reading it). This book captivated me.
The world building was what really had me intrigued. I loved the diversity of the constellations. None of them were the similar and each was unique. The more I learned about each constellation I craved more details about others the author had yet to tie in. Overall the world building was beautiful, especially for some who loves the stars and space in general.
The plot was wonderful too. And it made me want to keep reading. This was a wonderful YA story.
Of course some people aren't very happy with the love triangle. I know. I understand that completely. The love triangle element has been overused and we all feel the pain of it. I feel it too. However, I enjoyed the characters. The romance was ok. Though sometimes dragging or felt kind of forced between two of the characters.
I have wild hope for the other books in the series and I'm planning to start the 2nd book tomorrow.

I read this with friends and honestly I still don’t know how I feel about it. I enjoyed the beginning of the book and majority of the middle. There is just a trope in here that I am really not a fan of. Love triangles.
