This was a fairly quick read. I love Michelle Obama, though I didn’t enjoy this book quite as much as her first. That being said, I’m glad I read this; it’s always good to hear her inspirational messages.

"It felt good, it felt great actually, to mix our differentness with togetherness"

This book felt like a friend inviting us in for a cup of coffee and to sit and talk through our experience riding the roller coaster the ups and downs of the last few years. Like Becoming, this book has a comforting casual tone reminding readers that despite the accolades, the Obamas are still humans living through each day like the rest of us.

Truly a fantastic read and an even better audiobook companion!

This was okay. A lot of it was kind of generic self-help and I wasn't as interested when she told stories about other people.

However, like Becoming, I loved her personal stories. Getting an insight into the experience of being First Lady is always fascinating and I also loved the other stories about her family.

If I have to describe this book in one word, then it would be “insightful”. There are a lot of things that I’ve learned from her and her experience as a person, mother and as a first lady. Her story is quite America centric so there are a few references that I don’t relate with. But overall, this book gives me a really good understanding of how to become a light in spite of challenges that come up in my life.
