This book delves into the unraveling of a murder mystery. While the identity of the main culprit may seem evident early on, the intricate details of their plan keep the reader engaged throughout. The dynamic between detectives Kusanagi and Yukawa adds depth to the story, especially with the introduction of a new, sharp female detective who poses a challenge to Kusanagi. Overall, the novel offers a captivating exploration of deception, friendship, and the complexities of solving a crime.

Slow-paced, clumsy, boring crime book. This one from Keigo Higashino was disappointing.
Throwing new person to create the motive is not so great example how to make mystery book amazing.
A no go.

I have read a few of Higashino's novels before but this one has sealed him as one of my favorite mystery novels who is now on the level with Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle.

This case is about a man who is found at home alone with a poisoned cup of coffee. The HOW is the biggest part of the novel and makes it fascinating.

I give it 3.5/5
