What an interesting and different read this was. I liked it. I liked the odd names for characters and the main characters spunk and tenacity at the end of the book.

I loved this book on so many levels! I loved the completely unique voice. I do not think I have ever read a book with this voice, narrated in the first person; but rather than using the narrative "I" the author uses the narrative "you." This draws the reader in, triggers empathy and recognition of the experiences. You recognize and relate to the feelings, even if the specific events are often zany or nearly unbelievable. It's the basic human responses that you believe and share and recognize, and that makes this story so powerful and profound. The realization of what happened to chase the unnamed narrative to Casablanca begins to dawn on the reader, and the voice makes the realization more sickening and heartfelt. She embraces, inhabits (however fleetingly or badly) other identities, whine being pushed out of her own. I loved it.

This was an interesting little book. I think the use of second person can be off-putting. There is a slow reveal as to what happened to the character before her trip and it's a doozy. I thought some of the happenings were a bit difficult to believe but I tried to let go of reality and just enjoy it. 3.5 stars.

What a strange book. A women flies to Morocco to escape heartbreak. Within an hour of landing she has lost all her money and identifying documents and so starts a series of events that see her changing her identity and appearance more times that I have had hot dinners. It was easy to read and largely inoffensive but I could not work out where the storyline was going and why. The ending wasn't an ending and really the whole book just left me confused

Relatively light, fast read. A woman takes a trip to Morocco (is clearly running from something) and when her identity is stolen, she slips into and out of identities that are handed to her. Written in the second person. Rounding up from 3.5.
