adventurous emotional mysterious slow-paced

Beautifully written, if a little challenging to get started. Subtly captures trauma and possible ASD and dialectical realities within beautiful prose and unique plot

by turns; pretentious, meandering and flat.

If this book had a song paired to it, it would be Yellow Light by Of Monsters and Men. The book switches between viewpoints of many characters, but is done so brilliantly, never leaving you confused whose eyes you’re reading through. It’s filled with growth and complications, understanding and misunderstandings. It’s a book full of acceptance and confusion, both your own and the characters- but in a good way. The Essex Serpent- It plays into the tribulations each person faces with such ease, so real or not real? Up to you to decide.
