It was amazingly well written but too hard to read for me at this time
okay i’ve been sitting with this one cause i don’t even really know how i feel. like am i sad or happy or angry? i understand that’s kind of the point considering the open ended nature of the ending. but even still, i was hoping to have my heart ripped out and it didn’t necessarily do that but it didn’t not do that? either way the writing was lyrical, the story was thrilling and devastating and exciting and beautiful and any book that can incite so much emotion is doing some right. i will think about these characters for a long time and hope they’re doing well living out their little, gay lives <3
Hard to rate because it took me awhile to care about the characters and the pacing felt a little off but the second half was really good. The slower setting up of the book might’ve been necessary though because it made the ending and the constant shit Mungo went through much more painful to read

Lovely isn't the best descriptor for what the novel was for me. As I listened to it in audiobook form, the book went everywhere with me and I have loved every point and turn; especially Mungo's development into the man he becomes at the end of the novel. He had won and that is all I had wished him; I wished he would've began thinking for himself more earlier. I hope his future was beautifully gay and safer.
