I admired the chronological scope of this book. Most things I read seem to take place over a short period of time, but this one spanned an entire lifetime with elegancy and grace.

rollercoaster of emotions. sometimes slightly hard for me to follow just bc of the letter format… otherwise - tackled some things that are hard to think about but need to be thought about.

I think I loved this book all the more because my most recent prior read was SO BAD. But I also just love the book. I have so many highlights and notes. I borrowed this through Libby, but I think I need my own copy

WHY DID IT TAKE ME SO LONG TO READ THIS BOOK!! It was worth it I guess because reading Alice Walker while at Sarah Lawrence feels like a special treat. Obviously this book went straight into my favorites list and I knew it would from the first chapter. There is a reason this book is well-received, because it is full of some of the most unique, lovable, and flawed characters in literature. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE must read this at least once.
