Notes:
- The raw energy of this! The vulgarity, rage and horror is spectacularly done. Works with the nightmare feel of the book so well.
- Also love the feminine motifs! So much goodness here especially how it interplays with the previous point.
- The way the sentences and all the images/motifs flow into one another is amazing. Stunning writing capability.

After hearing about this book from multiple angles, I expected it to be weirder. The creeping tension, that something was wrong, especially at the beginning of part 2, had me plowing through this book. There were some early threads I wish had been continued to the end, but seeing the Bunnies at work kept me on the edge of my seat.

I loved this book! It was highly recommended to me and I wasn't quite sure about it, but I'm so glad I picked it up! It started off a bit slow and confusing, but as you go through you start to understand why it starts that way and it slowly begins to unfold. Creepy, mysterious, beautiful! Lots of surprising bits along the way that you don't see coming that made me physically gasp. The main character is intriguing, relatable, and flawed; and her perspective is so interesting as we move throughout the book and you can see through her eyes as she's taken in by the cult and her thoughts start to change. As I was reading it I thought it about it every second I was away, wondering what was going to happen next! I would love to read other books by this author or similar because it's not a genre I typically pick up, but I was captivated.

I wanted to like "Bunny," but Mona Awad really lost me. What is actually real in this ENTIRE STORY? I get that not everything needs to be wrapped up pretty in a little bow, but when I finish a book having literally NO idea what was true or not, I'm just lost, not impressed. This book was compared to Heathers, Mean Girls, The Craft, but I think the similarities end at a story about girls in a clique. Maybe I'm not *creative* or *experimental* enough to like this? Maybe it was too deep for me to grasp "The Process" or "The Work" or "The Body" as the professors at Awad's Warren University would say? At least I could relate to Sam in the way she views the writing of her peers, cause this book was a confusing and garbled mess that felt like it was trying way too hard to be pretentious and not like other girls books. Honestly, I could summarize this book as gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss, and that's actually laughable.

I really liked the writing style, it was nothing I've read before. Really eerie and well done, with a decent sense of progression. The middle plot swap lost me for a minute, but I was right back in after about 50 pages. Only gripe is with the ending, it just felt a bit rushed and forced into a nice bow, when I think some kind of raw ending would have worked better, even with no intention of a sequel.

Lol ummmm what I’m the world did I just read???? Think like a Heathers, Mean Girls, Frankenstein, with some Alice in Wonderland allusions sprinkled throughout.

But on a more critical note, it was excellent and I devoured it in 24 hours.

It was abstract, the prose was beautiful without being too much of anything, and the magical realism was *chefs kiss.*

Part One and Part Three were strong; Part Two was a bit too much of a drug filled haze, but it did add to the story, it was just a bit slow.

Go read it, but check the trigger warnings!!!!

This book was absolutely insane and not what I was expecting AT ALL. It took until the 65% mark for me to even start enjoying it, but I had to know what happened. Overall I liked this, but it didn’t make me want to run and get Awad’s other books.
