I finished this book last night (well, today actually) at midnight, and I have a lot to say about this book, but it can mostly be summarized in the two following sentences: 'What in the world did I just read?' and 'Huh, I actually really liked that.'

This was SO MUCH better than All's Well, another book by Mona Awad that I read about a month ago. They have a very similar vibe; weird, creepy, semi-supernatural things happen at a cozy New England university. I even felt that some of the characters were similar. (Something about Fosco/Ursula reminded me of Fauve and Grace. I don't know.) Both books featured an already 'weird' woman spiraling into the depths of loneliness and insanity. Both books were interesting explorations of female friendships and the pursuit of the arts. But despite their similarities, something about Bunny was just so much more appealing to me than All's Well. If All's Well was good, Bunny is a masterpiece.

Goodreads has this tagged under horror, which I don't really agree with. Yes, there were some creepy and alarming moments, but overall, it wasn't necessarily scary. I don't really consume horror; my limits are a short horror story or an episode of Stranger Things, so I was kind of worried that Bunny would get too scary for me personally, but it never did. That being said, this is probably not suitable for young teenagers, just because I feel like the content requires a little more maturity overall.

My other main thoughts are as follows:
1. It always surprises me when I see my name in a book because I don't hear it very often in real life. This was also the first time I've ever seen someone confusing 'Ava' for 'Ada' instead of the other way around. It was a little jarring.
2. The ending of this one was wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiild, much in the same way that the ending of All's Well was. Stick around for the end; you won't regret it. All sorts of insanity and chaos will ensue.

Overall, 5/5 stars. I loved it!

Went blind into it so I didn't really know what to expect: Murder mystery? Thriller? Psychological horror? Horny? Well... Yes.
Magical realism needs to be this or bust from now on, Gabo move aside.
