this was a violent, wild ride! i LOVE these kinds of books but they’re really not for everyone. you have to go into it knowing that it’ll be a little fucked up and not everything will make sense and you will not get the answers by the end lol. you never quite know what’s real, whether it was
a drug induced hallucination via cult? or some type of paranoia/schizophrenia? who’s to say but i was very entertained

very atmospheric, but that’s about all i got from this book. reading bunny was like having my brain pulled out of my head and wrung out. maybe i just ~didn’t get it~ but i REALLY did not get it. 

overly flowery(?)/metaphorical(?)/confusing(?) (idk what word i wanna use, maybe that’s because Mona Awad stole all of them and put em in her book). 

it just seems like the book wants the reader to think “wow! what an intelligent book and how intelligent am i for reading it,” sacrificing comprehensibility for it. i’m not saying books need to spoonfeed their readers because i hate THAT too but i could have done with like 2% more explanation / clarity. reading this book felt like watching a movie with a (veryy lovely) silk scarf over my eyes.

What starts as a cross between Heathers and Dead Poets Society with Daria-esque characters, turns into a  mind-twisting tale where you’re not quite sure if you’re in a waking nightmare or not. Samantha’s unfortunate family life and outsider-ness lends itself to the underlying theme of “if you could create the perfect companion, would everything really be fixed?” 
There’s so much to this book. I think I’ll revisit it. This feels like a Donnie Darko rewatch where you’ll find something new on each read.

It just wasn't for me. The writing was great! The story was... Interesting. It's definitely unique and had a lot of unexpected scenes I didn't see coming. This is a good book, just for someone else.

This book was a trip but I loved it. Yes, it was confusing at times. Yes, it felt like a fever dream. And yes, even though I figured out some of the twists before they happened, I am still at a bit of a loss how to describe this book.
