My first thought after reading this book was "...what just happened??". After processing it a bit more and seeing others' perspectives (which felt in line with how I was perceiving it) I realized that this book has a ton of nuance and I think some people may have missed that, which may lead to lower ratings and dislike of the story. Overall, a really good book and something I might re-read in the future to see how it all plays out, already knowing the story.

This book is so wild and is the kind of book I wish I had read in a book club so that I could talk to someone about it. The first half was super captivating and unsettling, feeling kind of like Get Out, Midsommar, and Heathers. The second half was not as great but it's still one of my favorite books I've read this year.
